LiveScan Configurations

MorphoTrak LiveScans are fully integrated, off-the-shelf, multi-biometric enrollment solutions that can capture high resolution fingerprint data at both 500 ppi and 1000 ppi. The designs draw upon MorphoTrak's extensive experience in supplying thousands of LiveScan units that are fully integrated with the Automated Biometric Identification Systems (ABIS) of local, state, regional, and federal law enforcement agencies. The basic LiveScan configuration consists of:

  • Desktop or laptop PC with mouse, keyboard, and LCD monitor
  • FBI-certified scanner:
    • TP-5300-ED
    • TP-5300-HD
    • MorphoTopR

The unit can be expanded to accommodate a wide range of optional peripherals, including:

  • Camera enclosure
  • Flatbed document scanner
  • Iris capture device
  • Mugshot camera: webcam or DSLR camera
  • Monopole for mugshot mount (Ruggedized configuration only)
  • Readers for 1D / 2D barcode
  • Ruggedized cabinet
  • Signature pad
  • Tenprint card printer
  • Touch screen
  • Tripod

All LiveScans use FBI Appendix F-certified scanners to capture fingerprint and palm print data. After the LiveScan captures prints, automatic processing is performed, including minutiae extraction. Image quality measurements are obtained using our proprietary image processing algorithm. Real-time quality assurance automatically detects if fingerprints are rolled correctly, and ensures that each finger is in the correct location, saving time and reducing the percentage of rejected submissions.

The LiveScan is an ideal solution for offender enrollment, identity verification, and background checks. It can be customized to interface into any MorphoTrak ABIS as well as any third-party system. The station is highly customizable and can meet a broad range of configurations to support biometric data capture in almost any environment. The LiveScan provides users with a fast, easy-to-use enrollment solution.

LiveScan: Desktop Configuration

The LiveScan Desktop consists of a desktop PC with LCD monitor, keyboard, and mouse, along with a fingerprint scanner and optional peripherals. The components can be set to maximize existing office space without needing additional specialized furniture. It can also be upgraded and expanded; you can start with the basic fingerprint scanner and add peripherals such as a mugshot camera or document reader at a later time. The LiveScan Desktop is an excellent solution for a formal office or a dedicated worksite.

Key Features

  • True forensic quality rolls and flat fingerprints, and palm prints
  • Maximum ANSI / NIST image size
  • Moisture-discriminating optics
  • Easy expansion of core platform
  • Connectivity with MorphoTrak or third-party ABIS
  • Automatic scanner calibration; no moving parts

Key Benefits

  • Captures a complete record of prints quickly
  • Image level meets or exceeds U.S. criminal justice agency requirements
  • Captures pore details without obscuring ridge contours
  • Expands to support new biometric modalities
  • Compatible with multiple database systems
  • Easy to operate; automated maintenance
LiveScan: Ruggedized Configuration

The LiveScan Ruggedized is a self-contained solution for efficient enrollment in multiple environments. Like the desktop configuration, the ruggedized LiveScan comes with a desktop PC, LCD monitor, keyboard and mouse, as well as a scanner and optional peripherals. In addition, the components come in a fixed-height reinforced cabinet designed for safety and security. It is fitted with integrated foot switches and features removable front and back maintenance panels. The cabinet comes in either fixed-height or adjustable-height motorized varieties. The ruggedized configuration is ideal when you need a self-contained solution that can be secured when not in use, such as in a public-facing government office or a correctional facility.

Key Features

  • True forensic quality rolls and flat fingerprints, and palm prints
  • Maximum ANSI / NIST image size
  • Moisture-discriminating optics
  • Easy expansion of core platform
  • Connectivity with MorphoTrak or third-party ABIS

LiveScan: Portable Configuration

The LiveScan Portable is configured with a laptop to give users deployment flexibility. It uses the same fingerprint scanner and optional peripherals as the Desktop and Ruggedized LiveScan configurations. The accompanying carrying case provides portability in normal operating environments. The LiveScan Portable is best suited to an ad-hoc office environment where an enrollment solution is needed, but a dedicated enrollment area is impractical. The portable LiveScan configuration can be set up anywhere; all that is needed is access to a power source.
